Thanks to our experience in electrode design and technology development for die-sinking EDM, we can machine even the most demanding workpieces with the highest precision and surface quality. Whether it’s the finest contours or complex 3D shapes, we will find the optimum solution for your requirements.

The subtractive manufacturing process

Copper, tungsten copper and graphite are used as electrode materials for die-sinking EDM on our path-controlled five-axis machines. This penetrates the workpiece by sparking and thus forms a negative mold. The workpiece is placed in a bath of dielectric (oil of varying viscosity, depending on the application), which is ionized by the discharge.

Die-sinking EDM for machining all conceivable shape contours

The moving machine head performs the movement in the Z-axis and the rotation in the C-axis, the table performs the movements in the X- Y-axis. These movements and an optional rotary axis make the process ideally suited for all conceivable shape contours and for machining materials that are difficult to machine.

Die sinking can be used for:

Die-sinking EDM, also known as EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), is a manufacturing process that is used in particular in industries where precision and the machining of difficult-to-machine materials are required. EDM is an ideal method for creating complex geometries and precise cavities in difficult-to-machine materials such as hardened steel, carbide or exotic alloys. This technique is particularly valuable for applications where conventional machining methods reach their limits, such as the production of shapes with sharp corners, deep slots or fine details. Our experience in die-sinking EDM enables us to produce a wide range of shapes and patterns, from simple openings to intricate 3D structures. We are able to work with the highest precision and repeatability, which is crucial for the production of tools and molds in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering and other high-tech sectors.
