By using wire diameters of 20 \u00b5m, slots 50 \u00b5m wide can be produced with a tolerance of &lt; 5 \u00b5m. We use electrodes with a diameter of up to 0.05 mm on our micro drill EDM machines. Micro-erosion uses a thermal ablation mechanism that enables machining with virtually no process forces. This is crucial for the production of components with a high degree of geometric design freedom, regardless of the mechanical properties of the materials used. We can use this technology to create complex geometries in materials such as hardened steels, carbide or ceramics.
